Seven Days. One Honest Step Each Day.
This is a place to start. Seven days to notice the perspective you are already standing in, and to let one other person be as real as you are. Then The Work, or Stuck if you cannot tell which half is driving. The long record of other perspectives, religious and older, is Dogma. 16 Types is a mirror, if you want one. Each day has one notice, one question, and one small act. Skip a day if life is loud. Do not skip the act. Theory without a body is another costume.
How to Use This
- Ten minutes is enough. More is optional.
- Write one sentence somewhere private after each day. The point is a trace, not a performance.
- If a day opens something you cannot hold alone, find a person. This is not therapy.
Notice the Role
For one ordinary hour, catch the moment you are performing a version of yourself. Work face. Family face. Online face. Do not judge it. Name it.
Question. Who was I being when no one was watching, and who was I being when someone was?
Act. Write one sentence: “Today the role was ___.”
Name the Split
Find one place where the world is cleanly divided into us and them, right and wrong, my kind and the other kind. Feel how certain it is.
Question. What does this split protect me from feeling?
Act. Write the split in one line. Then write the human on the other side in one line, without argument.
Map the Type Lightly
Take the type questions, or open your four letters if you already have them. Read only the hero and the inferior. Leave the rest for later.
Question. What do I trust without deciding to? What puts me at a disadvantage?
Act. Name hero and inferior in plain words. No jargon required.
Meet One Shadow
Pick one person or situation that irritates you out of proportion. Do not fix them. Ask which move in you refuses to own that irritation.
Question. If this were mine in a form I will not admit, what would it be?
Act. One sentence: “The exile might be ___.” No conclusion needed. Curiosity is the act.
Attention Audit
List where your attention went for one day: feeds, arguments, fantasies, work loops, a person you cannot stop rehearsing.
Question. What was feeding on me, and did I call the meal a duty?
Act. Cut one loop for twenty-four hours. Not forever. One loop.
One Act of Integrity
Integrity here means you stop hiding a half of yourself you already know is there. Not a confession to a crowd. A private end to a private lie.
Question. What have I been performing as fine that is not fine?
Act. Do one small thing that matches the truth you have been avoiding. A message, a boundary, a rest, a repair.
One Act of Care
The point of the work is not a cleaner self-image. It is the capacity to meet someone without needing them to be the enemy or the mirror of your wound.
Question. Who can I treat as real today without using them?
Act. One concrete kindness that costs a little and does not buy you a story about being good.
The Chamber Opens
You do not graduate. You have a trace. From here the library is optional and the spiral is optional and the tests are optional. The only requirement is that you keep telling the actor from the costume, and that you let that cost you something real with other people.
